A Day in the Life

This event was thought up by Trish at Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity.
Basically we all have crazy days with lots of stuff going on.  Pick a day and write up what you do during that day.

Well here goes then!

6 am alarm goes off; hit snooze
6:15 get out of bed, put on work out clothes, grab coffee and head to basement to workout
6:30 -7 am 15 minute upper body, 15 minute lower body
7 am shower, get dressed, feed the doggie, and off to work!

Today I had an annual doctor appointment, and finally got to work at 10:30.  Grabbed another coffee before going up to my floor.  La Colombe = La good!

10:30 am - Finally at work.  Talk to the hubby, catch up with girlfriend at the office that only comes in once a week, check emails, respond to emails, answer coding questions (may explain in a later post), do second level reviews.  Check in with another manager on workflow issues.
Check out a few Hawaii properties

11:45 am - go out to get a salad with friend from the office

Noon - back to emails and workflow issues.  Approve a training video, clean desk off a bit
1:00 pm - Listen to educational webinar; go through piles of papers while listening, and eating lunch.  Also jot down interesting tidbits.  I actually learned something today!

2:15 pm - My boss stops by to catch up before I'm out for two days; much needed rest.  My boss is awesome.  Seriously, we get along so well, and respect each other greatly.  I work with a bunch of great women which is not easy to find in my field (Health Information Management)

2:30 pm - speak to someone about getting into the coding field
2:45 -3:00 pm - approve job offers for next class of students in my training program at work

3:00-4:30 pm - Update my staff on office stuff and their soon to be working from home status, write up a few performance evaluations, more second level reviews, clean up my desk and out the door!

5:00 pm -6:00 pm - Arrive home, pet the dog, help hubby out with some work questions, get dinner started

6-6:30 pm eat dinner; I will say mac and cheese was involved.  It's all out this week because starting Monday I MUST buckle down with my eating habits.

6:30 - 7:00 pm clean up kitchen, put on comfy clothes, play with the dog (Kona)

7:00 pm- 9:00 pm-Watch Kona get cuddled by her daddy; relax in my recliner, and occasionally knit on a shawl for someone at work.  Tonight it was Person of Interest and iZombie from the DVR.  Also checked Twitter from time to time, and work email.

9:00-9:30 pm - write this post, set up coffee for tomorrow, let dog out to bathroom, and go to bed by 9:30-9:45 pm.  Read for 30 minutes then snuggle to sleep with Kona

My husband is private, so I try not to include him too much of my blog things.  Please know he figures in here too, but like I said he is private and I respect that.

My days fly by at work, and I enjoy my "new" job immensely.  It was just what I needed because I was dying there for a while.  I think a future post will be about my job, and definitely TV shows I watch.  I watch a lot, and I'm probably hesitating because it will blow me away.

So, what's a day in your life like?  Makes you think when you put it on paper.  My life may not be exciting but it's all about perspective :)

  2. I love it when my work days go by fast. The slow does are the worst. I only wish my time out of work would slow down! I enjoyed reading about your day. It sounds like your work situation is a good one. It makes such a different when you work with people you enjoy being around, especially when you have to spend so much time with them. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I'm so glad that you're enjoying your job Jen--I know for a long time there was some stress going on. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who goes "all out" before kicking bad eating habits. I will say that I'm loving this no sugar, thing. I'm to the point where I'm ready to add a bit back in but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's wanting to kick start eating.

And no pictures of Kona?!?! ;) Thanks for participating sweet friend!

  4. I enjoyed reading about your day. They have all been different, but we all have some similarities as well. Glad that your job sounds like one that works for you - good for you getting your exercise out of the way in the morning. And, yes, the eating habits. Well, it's a challenge, isn't it? Thanks for sharing!

    1. thanks for stopping by Kay! eating habits...the bane of my existence. All we can do is try our best. Exercising: My day starts better when I do it. I see a difference when I don't.

  5. Your job and my job sound like cousins with all this talk of workflows and coding, except that I often wish my work days would fly by a little bit faster. Glad to hear you moved into a job that is much more satisfying - that definitely makes for better "days in the life!" =)

    1. Coding? I'll assume computer coding for you. Mine is inpatient hospital coding. Slow work days are killer so I feel your pain Megan. My previous position was like that.

  7. I'd like to hear more about the tv shows. I've been wondering how izombie is, mostly because it's by the creators of VMars.

    1. It's quite good! I'm a middle of the road Veronica Mars fan, but I enjoy iZombie immensely. Reminds you of Mars, but the writing is little zippier, if that makes sense.

  9. Fast days are the best! I'd rather be busy and have the time fly by then be bored, even if it does make for a little more stress.

  10. Loved reading about your day ... wish I'd seen the event in time to participate, oh well next time. Where's pics of Kona? I really want to see Kona lol. So happy to hear how much you enjoy this position and what a great team you work with ... makes all the difference doesn't it. TV viewing ... don't get me started lol. I'm excited about new season of GoT and of course Outlander re-starting. I'm still hooked on Scandal and Vikings, Chicago Fire, Greys Anatomy to name just a few. Come on do the post and we'll compare notes!

GoT love it! Outlander: I couldn't get into it. I know, I know, they do Jaimie and Clair justice, but it's me for some reason.
TV post in the works at some point. Then you can see how much Tv I REALLY watch :)
